OPEN DOORS; OPEN HEARTS

INCLUSIVENESS  We welcome and affirm all persons as precious children of God.

Our congregation is consciously working to be more aware and supportive of the physical and spiritual needs of all who enter our doors. In 1997, we ADA-modified parts of our church, installing a lift and remodeling a bathroom to make our building more accessible to members and visitors with physical limitations.

Our doors are open to anyone who wishes to join us in worship, learn more about Jesus and Christian beliefs, or participate in our outreach programs. We welcome all, regardless of religious background, race, ethnicity or sexual orientation and formally declared ourselves Open and Affirming (ONA) in 2007.

The Congregational United Church of Christ, Arlington Heights, IL, in accordance with our shared value of inclusiveness, declares itself Open and Affirming. We welcome and accept into the full life and ministry of our church people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. We maintain that every person has sacred worth as a unique creation made in the image of God. We believe that sexuality is a gift from God.

We reach out to those who are disenfranchised from the religious community, and we seek growth and understanding as we continue toward inclusiveness.

FELLOWSHIP   We value Christian fellowship within our congregation and with other faith communities.

Laughing together, sharing meals, and experiencing the special gifts that each person has to offer are a large part of what makes us a family. Throughout the year we gather for picnics, retreats, concerts, pageants, work days and campouts. Our teens enjoy activities with other local churches, and we celebrate special worship services with other congregations. Summer Vacation Bible Camp brings together more than 35 volunteers from local churches, and over 100 children for a week of Christian celebration.
