OUTREACH We are called to continue Christ’s servant ministry by caring and doing for others in the community and the world.
An inwardly-focused church cannot flourish. As Jesus showed us in his public ministry, we are all called on to take his word and work out into the world. In addition to ongoing financial support, current outreach programs at our church include:
TESTAMENT We will, through our work and our words, spread the message of God’s love to those we encounter.
A re-dedication to living our faith in our homes, schools, workplaces and community is the most essential way we can serve as a testament to God's covenant. In addition, we are seeking other ways to spread God's word. After the trauma of 9/11, we initiated a series of dialogues between persons of Christian, Jewish, and Muslim faiths. Last year, we sponsored a Peace Prayer Vigil in response to the war in Iraq. We are developing a greater connection to other churches in the UCC, as well as other denominations and faiths in our community.
COURAGE We stand up for what we prayerfully believe to be God’s direction.
Over the past four decades, our church has taken action on issues we believed to be morally imperative, regardless of popular opinion. In every case we were rewarded far beyond our efforts with grace, peace, gratitude and friendship. Activities supported by our church have included: |
